Oregon families:
Are you concerned about your child’s rapid-onset gender dysphoria (ROGD)?
Do you fear that the “affirmation only” approach disregards years of your own experiences knowing and raising your child, dismisses worrisome medical consequences, and overlooks the complex psychosocial dynamics at play in your child’s dysphoria?
Are you concerned about how gender ideology and medicalization might affect your child’s long term mental and physical wellbeing?
Parents of ROGD youth, I want to hear your stories, and support you through this rough time.
The support group is currently on pause for the summer as people’s schedules can be highly variable. We intend to resume in the fall. However, I do have room to work with parents as individuals or couples. Please contact me to inquire.
Would you like me to work with your teen? Unfortunately, my work with adolescents is on pause right now. While I successfully defeated allegations of “conversion therapy,” the laws in Oregon make it too risky to offer the kind of exploratory therapy these teens desperately need. “Affirmation” is the model we are expected to follow, despite its many dangers. I spoke with Helen Joyce about this dilemma on Episode 11 of You Must Be Some Kind of Therapist, my podcast. I continue to work with parents who are worried about their children, as well as detransitioners, desisters and anyone else who feels they have been harmed by gender ideology.
Support group details:
I offer a support group for parents of youth with rapid-onset gender dysphoria (ROGD) who have concerns about how gender ideology and medicalization are affecting their children. Relevant topics include adolescent mental health and developmental psychology; identity; social media; narratives, beliefs, myths, and facts about gender and sexuality; health and wellness; the endocrine system and its relationship with psychology and biology; and family dynamics.
Our goals are to protect your children’s long term wellbeing and your relationships with them even when navigating contentious issues.
We meet online Thursdays from 5:00-6:30pm. The cost is $60 per family; up to 3 parents or adult siblings/relatives can attend.
To register for this group, contact me. After determining if it is a fit, I will send you intake forms and get you scheduled.

Outside of Oregon?
I do not provide counseling outside of Oregon. Please see Genspect, the Gender Exploratory Therapy Association, and the Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine. If you are outside of Oregon and would be willing to share your story on my upcoming podcast, please let me know. I want other therapists to hear whatever you have to say to us. Contact me.
